Nesting

Today I'm dedicated to cooking meals to put away for when the baby gets here.  I'm making red beans with sausage and ham and red gravy with italian sausage and ground meat, aka meat sauce.  Two things that freeze very well and make plenty.  I can't think of anything else to cook right now.  If anyone has any recipes they would like to share that are easy to prepare and freeze well in small portions, please pass them along.  I also like vegetarian dishes as long as the ingredients list stays pretty short.  Washing and dicing up veggies is not my idea of fun.

I think next week I will make some chicken and sausage gumbo, shrimp sauce piquant or white lasagna. Those are all really good during cooler weather.  So, anyway, please send on some recipes if you happen to have a favorite.  And, if you are local family reading this, you could just make it, freeze it and drop it on by come October (wink, wink)!

Yum, you have me hungry! I'll try to look through some of my recipes myself and see if I come across anything that sounds good. That's a great idea to do though. Do you have a favorite chili recipe you could freeze? That always is an easy one for me to do, and it freezes well. White lasagna sounds good too!

My husband is the chef in our marriage. He is recommending you cook some boneless, skinless chicken breats, preferably in some sort of sauce so it will lock in the moisture during the freeze/thaw cycle (there is an IF joke in here somewhere, I am sure, hee hee). We recently thawed out some cooked chicken breats that had been marinated in a barbecue sauce and they were as moist and fresh tasting as if they had just been cooked!

I also agree with Sara's suggestion of chili.

Thank you, God, for blessing us with a successful full term pregnancy and for helping me recognize and receive your guidance and healing power as our baby grows in my womb.  I know that we are being blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby, and I thank you for your loving presence in our lives.  Amen.
